Slight let down if I'm totally honest. The fights where sweet and Luke Goss surprisingly spooky, but overall it lacked any character development...the bloodpack = 100% cannon fodder.

Whistler was pure class though (if you know what I mean) mainly because he had the best lines in the movie. The special effect where also good. And that bloke from Alien Resurrection was good too...but overall, it lacked.

    Overall 7.5/10

    ...back to Guerilla Film-Maker mode...

Interesting how no-one has complained about this being a technical forum etc, etc.- is it simply that discussions about interesting film-makers (i.e. Del Toro) are allowed, whereas others are not....?

Anyway, what blew me away about Blade II was the long, free-roaming camera shots- I realise that this is CGI time, but it is still hard to see how some of the shots were done. Personally, I'm starting to find it all a bit scary- up until Fincher et al started doing all this new stuff I could always work out how things had been shot, but now I'm not so sure. Anyone care to explain.

I also think we need a new kind of language to describe these new techniques- pans, tilts, zooms and tracks really aren't adequate anymore.

    Hey there.

Allot of those shots were total CGI. They actualy made CGI versions of the actors and the sets and intercut them with the live action. It worked well but some of the shots were clearly CG. I think they could have spent a little more time making them perfect.

But in my opinion these techniques are the future of filmmaking. I cant wait to use them.

100% freedom to move the camera. Its the future.

    Despin out.

    I watched Blade 2 last night.... i got mixed-feelings!

The action scenes seems to be too fast-paced... I could hardly keep up with it, (either I'm getting old, or it was those 4 beers I had before the movie)

The CGI fight scenes were too obvious, no one can move that fast - it was interesting, but it wasn't Manga!

The final fight scene was like WWF... bit of a joke!

the biggest problem was with Whistler... WTF?! - could someone explain to me how the **** he became an "anti-vampire"? I must have blinked!

apart from that... yep all big-budget action flicks are be more like 3D video game now!
